Alior Bank forms the 10th largest financial group in Poland, with more than 6,000 employees as of end of 2015.
Founded in 2008 by the Italian group Carlo Tassara, the bank debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2012 with an offering valued at PLN 2.1 billion, the highest in the exchange's history at the time. In 2014, Alior's stock price became part of the important WIG20 index. Since 2015, the bank commenced a series of mergers and acquisitions, most notably acquiring Meritum Bank (2015) and Bank BPH (2016).
The bank has been highly rated by both Forbes and Newsweek. It also received a number of awards, most notably the Most Innovative Bank of 2012 in BAI Global Banking Innovation Awards and the Best European Retail Bank 2015 award by Retail Banker International.
